　　1989年毕业于北京大学考古系，现为浙江省良渚博物院院长、研究员、中华玉文化中心专家委员，长期从事浙江北部地区史前文化遗址的考古发掘与研究工作，与良渚文化结缘尤深。
　　西北地区出土玉器最早见于甘肃秦安大地湾遗址，有锛、凿、笄、坠、镯等约10件。此后，马家窑文化玉器也有零星发现，也多为工具与装饰品。到了距今4300年到3700年前后的齐家文化时期，这一地区玉文化发展进入一个井喷的新阶段。
　　目前所知，齐家文化主要分布在甘肃、青海和宁夏的河西走廊、湟水沿线、洮河流域、渭水上游、六盘山周围及泾水上游等区域。甘肃武威皇娘娘台、天水师赵村、临夏齐家坪，青海同德宗日、民和喇家等遗址都出土了一定数量的玉器。器类包括琮、璧、瑗、环、璜、钺、铲、锛、凿、刀、纺轮、镯、佩饰等多种。其中，最多见的是玉璧(包括瑗、环类)，玉琮的数量也不算少，且跟玉璧有配伍使用的迹象。而由多件扇面形玉璜复合组成的多璜联缀式玉璧、长条形的穿孔玉刀与玉铲也都颇具特色。
　　齐家文化玉器的玉料特征明显。据黄宣佩先生总结，属闪石玉的有黄、碧、青、白、墨等多种色彩，玉料中往往间夹布丁石纹，即可见各种不规则的圆形斑纹，或有不同色泽的条纹。这类独特的玉料，据调查，很可能就产自洮河支流大碧河的马衔山沟和祁家沟。由于目前仍可采集到，因此齐家文化玉器的仿制品近来颇呈泛滥之势。
　　齐家文化玉器的制琢工艺也自成一体。开料基本使用北方传统的片锯切割方法，因而玉器表面常见切割错位遗留的台阶痕。管钻以单面钻为主，穿透处边沿因崩缺而呈现凹缺不圆整的现象。齐家文化玉器的器型，多数并不规整精致。玉琮厚实直壁，四面宽度常不统一，射(环状凸起)的外壁往往可见多次切角与研磨的平面，射部与方柱角相接处多数呈凹弧角。璧的厚度不均匀，器表常见片锯切割遗留的台阶痕。甘肃武威皇娘娘台遗址出土的一件玉璧，直径8.5厘米，青白玉含紫褐色斑纹，边缘有黄褐色沁斑。形制近圆形，边缘不规整，中孔单面钻，钻透处的崩缺痕迹未加修治。此璧可视作齐家文化玉璧的典型器。
　　虽然齐家玉器中琮、璧等器型，明显有源自东南沿海良渚文化的基因，但种种迹象表明，齐家受良渚的影响很可能是间接的，更直接的影响可能来自于黄河中下游地区。此外，齐家文化玉器在制作方面的粗犷原始，器型方面的粗陋不工，使用方面的粗放不羁等，都显示出它消化外来影响后特立独行的原创性。
　　遗憾的是，西北地区在齐家文化之后的漫长岁月里，竟然再没有出现过有如齐家文化这样广泛盛行玉器的现象。世事沧桑难料，文物亦然。
